1. Do I need to know German in order to study in Germany?

Not necessarily. Germany is one of the best English speaking countries in Europe. Students learns English at an early age. As such, you would be able to get around without knowing how to speak German. Of course, it would be to your advantage to know some common words and phrases.

2. Do I need a visa to study in Germany?

As a resident of an EU member country, you are not required to have a visa to enter the Germany. You do, however, need your passport and national ID card. In addition to this, if you are staying beyond three months, then you should apply for a residence permit.

3. Is Germany a safe country?

Germany is known as one of the safest countries in the world. The rate of violent crime is quite low. People from all over the world are very much welcome anywhere in the country and though there have been incidents against foreigners, they have been isolated.

4. Where can I stay in Germany?

Housing can be quite expensive in Germany so it would be a good idea to make your living arrangements as early as possible. You can also ask your university to help you with this task.
